Bangkok cargo handler lifts embargo on import goods
FS, the cargo handler company in Bangkok, has lifted its short embargo on import goods into the country after a surge in volume disrupted their operations.
“We can confirm we have now lifted the short embargo placed on import general cargo at Bangkok Airport, which was put in place to manage the sudden surge in volume resulting from the modal shift response to the Red Sea crisis as well as higher demand leading into the start of the Chinese New Year. These factors significantly increased volumes earlier this month… announced Bangkok Flight Services (BFS).
The embargo was planned to run between midnight on Monday February 12 until Sunday February 18.
The Lunar New Year break and some shift to sea-air shipments caused by the Red Sea crisis has created a surge in air shipments’ volume.
Air cargo movement to Dubai, a major global trade hub, faced major disruption as local terminal operator suspended its operation for 48 hours before removing the suspension on Monday February 12.
