Global schedule reliability and average delays have reached the lowest level in the past 15 months due to Red Sea disruptions which have resulted in carriers’ rerouting their cargo ships around the southern tip of Africa, according to a new analysis.
The analysis is conducted by Sea‑Intelligence, a leading provider of research and analysis within the global supply chain industry.
The comprehensive report covers schedule reliability across 34 different trade lanes and 60+ carriers.
“Amidst the Red Sea crisis, global schedule reliability continued to decrease, and dropped by -5.1 percentage points M/M in January 2024 – the same M/M drop as in December 2023 – to 51.6%. This drop means that the January 2024 score was the lowest since September 2022.,” said Alan Murphy, CEO of Sea-Intelligence.
Substantial declines are eroding the gains achieved due to surge in container volumes in 2022, the analysis concludes.
